What Keeps Me Going; Here Are A Few
Firstly, who else can’t believe that it is already been December? Whole year just gone, poof!. Also, November has been quite blahish, if you ask me, and each day I kept thinking I think should and what to write about, but it just never happened (when will I learn?). Basically, this in turn got me thinking about what keeps me going or motivates me in the low days/weeks, because let’s be honest, who doesn’t have them. Things t
Reading goes without saying for me, and the only thing I am really glad about in this quarantine are books. I have read tons of good classics which I have missed over the years and some new ones too. They just don’t disappoint no matter what. So, books for the win for humankind always!
Penning down some of the things that keep me going below
Make music your best friend:
Trust me, music just has some unspoken power. Feel like something soothing, you got it. Feel like something peppy, you got it. Feel like something motivating, you got it. Feel like something jazzy, you got it. Whatever your need, it’s right there. It always helps me when people don’t or not around. I just keep changing with what I want to feel like at that moment and it never disappoints. I am sure a lot of you agree!
Starting with one little step at a time:
One line at a time in my case, I lot of times I feel like I have a lot to say, but just can’t get myself to write anything or even note it down. And then, the days just fly, doing nothing or staring at the wall and our phones. Sounds familiar?. I realised in those times, all you need to do is make the effort of opening a notepad (or whatever it is that you are working on or wanting to do) and write a line/few words. Things will then start to flow and in that moment you are like, was that all was needed?. Life I tell you.
Make way to your own heart via cooking:
Sometimes, you have to comfort yourself and what better than food to do that, right?. Cooking can be quite therapeutic to just let yourself loose a bit. Go crazy with the flavours and ingredients, whip up something that is for you (don’t forget your cooking playlist while at it). It really does make you feel better, almost instantly. Kitchen it a happy place, even if you aren’t an everyday cook.
Reiterate that everything will be fine/get better:
May feel a little silly to be saying this, but really sometimes all you have to do is keep telling yourself, everything will better. Write it down or look into the mirror or just hug yourself while you say this. It may not change the situation, but it will calm you down, so you can get to things or rest better.
Get help:
If nothing works, really, it is okay to get help, it could be something as simple as speaking to a friend or going out for coffee/drive to professional help. Sometimes you need a little push to get out of the funk and that’s totally fine. I just pick the phone and call a friend I can count on and few minutes down the line, things don’t seem too bad. Either, we end up saying, I feel you or just laugh at it. If no one’s around, help yourself, watch a chick flick or a sitcom, dance, do art, sing or take a walk, cheer yourself up, because, at times that works wonders.
Your progress isn’t defined by the quantitative things, like you might think. If you are not seeing anything happen right this moment, it’s fine. Take a break, you don’t always have to do things. I may have said something on these lines earlier too, but what I mean to say it, it’s alright if you can’t do something for a while. Some me time or healing time, helps always helps you come back stronger than before.
We all have our own ways to deal with the blah days, or low days, these were what keeps me going, how about yours?. Do leave in the comments below. Let’s push and lift each other, that’s the only way forward beautiful hoomans. 😀
P.S. Will be doing a post on lessons learnt in 2020 post & one with reading list 2020 (Part 2). If you haven’t checked out part 1, its right here. So yeah, can’t wait for December. Yay!
