Life as we know it

Epidemic Management; Is There A Right Way?

Hi all. Even though I have been home, I don’t think I have been in the right frame of mind to do anything, but I guess it is the same with everyone? It’s been a while since I came up with a blog and every time I think about writing one, only corona related ones pop up to my mind, I mean what else are we all thinking about right now ya? But even with all the time in the world, we just find it hard to keep moving or doing something. This global epidemic has been around for quite a while now and we are ensure how long it will go on for. With uncertainty looming every next day, we only have hope to cling onto. Oh the testing times, but imagine the stories we can tell about these days to our future generations?

Anyhow that being said, cooking (can come up with a few amazing food blogs, wait up for those. You can check the previous one here :D), writing, drawing or reading tends to keep me sane, and I try to do it whenever I can along with the office work of course. Somehow I feel we are having too much pressure on having to feel productive and do something on a daily basis, which is already adding to the stress and anxiety the whole world is already going through. I honestly feel, it is ok to just survive, with our basics at stake, its ok to not want to do anything and just wake up and sit.

Don’t beat yourself too much

Even though we feel like we would do a lot of things when we have time and probably all geared up for it in the first few days, we slowly realise that is no the case. We do not know how to stay still, we do not know how to use the time we are given. But what could help in these times is creating a routine for yourself, even if you have all the liberty to sleep till 1pm or even more. Create a routine for yourself, follow it, workout for a bit, go for a walk. There are many things we can do and are probably making a real effort to do as well.

Human connections can be a saver

A thing that could really help is human connection and compassion, even though you really cannot go out and meet people, but we can still find ways to be there for each other. It is required now more than ever to show the power of unity and human connect. One good thing is humans are very adaptive and we find ways to keep ourselves engaged through creative ways or new found habits. It is great to see people finding connections in ways we probably never even thought about.

Start of a new era?

I know the economies are down, jobs are uncertain, lot of other issues, but there are bright sides to it too right? Other than the earth healing, it is humans who are healing too, in ways. After this pandemic is over, our behaviours, rituals, the psychology and coping mechanisms. Not sure to what extent, however change is inevitable I feel. Is this going to be a turning point in the new age humanity or human evolution?

Doing the best we can

While I understand coping mechanisms are different for each person and everyone is dealing with in the best way possible for them, either engaging themselves in hobbies, self-care or just being there. It is important to remember that we are doing what we can to flatten the curve and thats something. Pat your backs! But if you need any suggestions here is a list of great things that will keep your anxiety and boredom at bay, during the corona lockdown by Forbes. Since your mental health is of utmost importance in these situations, make sure to keep sane and help others too. Together we can. Here’s to positivity 😀

P.S. Please stay home and stay safe. Count your blessing everyday. Not everyone is lucky enough to be alive or at their homes safe 🙂
