Travel Essentials; Not what you think
Hey you all. Been a little under the weather, is it the same with everyone or is it just me? Be safe though, with everything that has been going around. I am so glad this year started with a bit of a travel, with two trips in 2 months, not bad eh? This time it was a really impromptu weekend trip which I was literally pulled for, but I am glad I was, even though I was sick with flu (not the best thing to travel with to be honest). More on that later in the next post, for sure! But today it’s something different that I wanted to talk today was about some travel essentials, and I really do not mean in the general sense of it, which people generally do, but something I stumbled upon while traveling a bit here and there.
We usually read posts about travel essentials being what to take for traveling, how to pack or what to do, how about today we talk about travel hygiene and health. I think along with having fun, it is very important to take care of your body and understand it, especially when traveling. I know a lot of times, it is not possible to get everything like the way you want, that being said you need to do as much as you can to take care of yourself.
The unpopular idea of travelling
There are different kind of travellers and each with a different levels of understanding how one should explore, live or get around a certain place. But no matter what kind of traveler you are, there is something that has to remain constant, which is your body. I know people say while traveling, you shouldn’t think about what you eat, or how you stay or how the washrooms are, but I think I beg to differ! These become even more important when you travel. I mean only if you take care of yourself, will you be able to keep going for longer, right?
A weekend gateway, a family vacation, adventure trip, or a long travel plan, you need to ensure to look after your personal hygiene and health, you wouldn’t want to fall sick or contract some infection, because hey those are everywhere, regardless of which part of the world you are exploring. You won’t of course always have the luxury of a home, but it is up to you to stay healthy when on the move.
How can you stay hygienic & healthy on the move?
So now the question is, how do you stay hygienic and healthy while traveling? Here are some of the super basic things and travel essentials that you need to keep in mind.
Cleanliness
This especially makes sense when you go on a backpacking or an adventure trip where it is kind of difficult to look after where you eat, what you eat or whether clean washrooms are accessible. So, make sure you are selecting the right washroom to get into (very important, this is one thing I can never comprise on it, or at least choose the better of the options if there aren’t any). Also, if you are sure you are going on trip where the necessities aren’t much, don’t fret, just keep some wet wipes, tissues and sanitiser handy (keep these even otherwise, they will always come to use).
Also, traveling does not mean no washing yourself or having a bath, honestly who even came up with that?. I understand there might not be provisions always, but do make sure to keep washing hands, face and have bath when possible. A clean and fresh skin always feel better and re-energised, no one can deny that I am sure. Wet wipes can be of great use here too or no-rinse bodywashes. You can also pop in a mouth wash, ya know oral hygiene is a travel essential too.
Food & Water
Next important thing is the water and food; I know you want to go crazy and eat all the yum food a place has to offer you, but make sure you go to a hygienic place (not saying fancy and expensive, but something decent) and order something that is light on the stomach and safe, you wouldn’t want to enter into unknown waters too much, when trying new cuisines. I think this is something many would anyway do it, but carry your own water, fill it from the hostels, hotels or wherever you stay, if not bottled water would be the safest definitely!
Not only a woman thing
I am not writing this because I am a woman and am more hygiene conscious or that it is only applicable to us. I think it equally makes sense for men to look into their hygiene and health as well. They are no superhumans, let’s be honest here, so take into consideration all the men out there.
Happy Travelling
Even though a lot of things goes without saying, sometimes it is better to put the travel essentials out there for people. So eat healthy, stay hygienic and keep your body safe, be kind to it as you always should be.
Pro tip: Always keep some garbage bags with you wherever you go, you can not only use them for trash, but also for wet or dirty, that way you can keep the rest of them clean.
The healthier you are, the more you can take over the world more! Isn’t it?
Until then, happy exploring the world, wherever you are!
P.S. How do you guys make sure you are healthy and safe when you travel? Please do leave in the comments, I am sure they would be very helpful to the ones’ reading this post!!
