Life as we know it

Let’s Make People Feel Heard and Understood

This is something that has been going around in my head since a long time and I am sure would be relatable to many of you as well.

Hope sketch

I wanted to talk about mental health, as it is one of the most important topics of today’s times, which has been gaining importance, but maybe not as much as it should in some parts of the world. In India, it is still kinda taboo and most of them don’t openly express it, though it did get way better than it was, but I believe there still is a long way to go. I just wanted to put it out there for the nth time that it is a real thing and needs attention.

Feeling heard on Biteable.

Life is a struggle and we all know that, many of us probably aren’t even aware of the fact we might be needing help. It could be depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, your mind playing games with you or any other medical condition. I think as a human race, we have all faced that at one point or the other, coz mind escapes no one after all, not even the richest or the most successful.

To be frank I have faced it, but I have slowly healed and am actually proud of who I am today after that and how I can help others through my experience. Honestly, I would not think my case was severe at all, it was not medical or chronic, it was just probably life being life and dealing with it, which still pop up every now and then. But it still look a lot of time and courage from my end to fight whatever the shit feeling or funk that I was in,  but as they say there is always light at the end of the tunnel and we get what we need to grow as people. And, this is exactly why I would like to think there is a light for everyone waiting, if the right push and support is given.

However, that being said its time to change, be open about these things, only that way you can get better. Let people know what you are going through, talk about it, you only become stronger, trust me. If you see someone who can use help in any manner, make sure to go up them and have a chat with them and just be there and also suggest them to go meet a professional who can help them with it on medical level as well. There is no shame in this or accepting the fact that you might need help, let’s just get that out of our heads first.

At times, it is bottled up regrets, feelings or failures that stick on with you for years and years and getting them out can be pretty therapeutic. It is a serious issue and needs to be addressed, if someone is not being supportive or does not understand you, you don’t honestly need people like that around you.

It is important to show people that we are there for them and that no one is alone in this struggle of life. The least we can do as people is be compassionate, let people feel heard/understood and show a little empathy towards fellow humans, everyone’s going through something, so lets be a little kind.
